Gurdev Singh Brar IAS (retd) was unanimously elected as the President of the prestigious Sikh
Educational Society, Chandigarh in the General Body Meeting of the Society held at Guru
Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh. He has been elected for a term of five
years where the members also conferred the authority to the President to nominate the Vice
President, Secretary and Joint Secretary of the Society for the ensuing term. Since 2004, Gurdev
Singh Brar has been elected unopposed as the President of the Society. The Society runs eight
Educational Institutions in Punjab and Chandigarh through which it has been making momentous
contributions in the field of education along with valuable contributions in the religious, literary
and cultural arena. Institutions of higher education, being successfully run by the Society
include Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, Chandigarh; Guru Gobind Singh College for
Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh; Sikh National College, Banga; and Sikh National College,
Qadian.
Society memebers Dr Karamjit Singh and Dr Dharamjit Singh were also congratulated for being
appointed as the Vice Chancellors of different universities. Furthermore, the Annual Budget of
the Sikh Educational Society and its institutions were also passed. Col (retd) Jasmer Singh Bala,
Secretary, Sikh Educational Society presented the achievements and accomplishments of its
Institutions to the Society to their satisfaction.

On this ocassion, Society members Bhupinder Singh Johar, former Lok Sabha member Prof
Prem Singh Chandumajra, Shiromani Committee member Jathedar Karnail Singh Panjoli,
Gurcharan Singh Boparai, Vice Chancellor Dr Karamjit Singh, Vice Chancellor Dr Dharamjit
Singh, Gurvinder Singh Doomchaedi, S Harinder Pal Singh Delhi, political thinker Malvinder
Singh Mali, Dr Jaspal Singh Randhawa and Er Surinder Singh Virdi expressed satisfaction and
appreciated the work being done by the Society and further, presented suggestions and proposals
for the enhancement and development of the workings of the Society.
The following office bearers were also nominated by S Gurdev Singh – Er Kulbir Singh as the
Vice President, Col (retd) Jasmer Singh Bala as Secretary and Advocate Karandeep Singh
Cheema as the Joint Secretary of the Society.
