Department of Post is celebrating National Postal Week commencing from 09th October to 15th October 2019.

Day One 9th Oct.

with World Post Day on 9th October. On this day Post forum will be meeting within post office premises and visit of school children to post office will be arranged. Workshop for the staff on soft skill, public interaction and general courtesy will also be organised.

Day Two

10th October, Banking Day will be celebrated. Department of Post has recently launched its subsidiary India Post Payment Bank which is in line with leading payments offering a wide range of products such as savings and current accounts, remittances and money transfer, direct benefit transfer, bill and utility payments and merchant payment. A large workforce of approximately three lakh postmen and Gramin Dak Sewak offer assisted doorstep banking to the last mile citizen. On this day, Savings bank Camp at prominent places especially in rural areas will be organised so that maximum number of POSB/ IPPB accounts can be opened to aim at optimal financial inclusion.

Day Three

11th October, 2019 will be celebrated as PLI Day. Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance have got the momentum in the past years due to opening of window for online premium payment and high bonus and low premium features. Department is reaching the new clientele added to the service by extending the benefit to corporate employees, private Bankers/financial institutions and professionals.

Day Four

12th of October is marked to the Philately. On Philately Day, My Stamp facility will be provided in prominent schools and business houses. Divisions will promote opening of new philately accounts.

Day Four/Five

A state level exhibition will also be held on 12th and 13th October at Patiala.

Day Six

14th October will be celebrated as Business Development Day. India Post has been instrumental in providing large variety of premium services to its customers and now serving as a major player in ecommerce market owing to the support extended by various e-Commerce vendors who consider India Post as a preferred courier partner. India Post has launched its own e-Commerce portal for sale of artisan and other products. India Post is also providing other retail services viz sale of energy efficiency appliances, Western Union Money Transfer Services, booking of Railway Tickets, Post Office Passport Sewa Kendra, Aadhar enrolment and updation Centres, acceptance of Panjab University fees over the Post Office counters. On this day customers meet will be organized with the corporate customers to create awareness of our services and advantage over other players.

Day Seven 15th October will be celebrated as Mail Day. This day is organized with the study tour of school children followed by painting competition and walking tour with postmen. During the last year Department has stressed up on improvement of national and international mail services. Department has recently opened mail corridor in Punjab and U.T. Chandigarh by connecting all the major stations for next day delivery of mail. Air connectivity has also been given to 13 cities of India and many more will be added in near future to ensure delivery within 72 hours all over India. Delivery is now digitized through Postman Mobile Application and data is updated on India Post Website for tracking. Department has also started service of International tracked packet to cater to the needs of customers sending articles abroad. International Business Centre an extension of Foreign Post Office have been opened at Chandigarh and Ludhiana to facilitate speedy custom clearance and complete other online formalities before dispatch of foreign articles to respective countries from these two locations of Punjab.

During this period, a number of activities are undertaken by the Department aimed at generating a broader awareness of its role and activities among the public and media through press release.
