Sri Guru Gobind Singh College (Co-ed), Sector 26, Chandigarh, released the College
E- Prospectus for the academic year 2020-21 here today. Prof Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, Panjab University along with S Karandeep Singh Cheema, Joint Secretary SES in the presence of Principal Charanjit Singh and other staff members released the E-Prospectus by observing proper social distancing.
The College offers 08 Regular and 02 Professional Undergraduate Courses, 07 UG Honours, 09 Regular and 04 Professional Postgraduate Courses. In addition, the College will be starting new courses as BBA, Add on Certificate Courses in E-Commerce, E-banking, Floriculture & Landscape, Environment Auditing (Subject to approval, PU, Chandigarh). New Skill based Courses : Diploma in Social Media Management, Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication, Diploma in Entrepreneurship, B Voc in Web technologies and Software development, (Subject to approval of UGC ) have also been initiated this year. Due to the special circumstances of COVID 19, the College will provide Fee concession to economically weaker section and meritorious students in academics and sports.
The College is grateful to Mr V. K Garg and Ms Indra Gupta, alumni of the College, who have offered Shri P.N. Garg Award for Excellence and Smt. Kaushalya Garg Award for Excellence with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each for 4 meritorious B.Com students (2 girls, 2 boys). Brijinder Dargan Memorial Medal carrying a cash award of Rs 11,000, for a meritorious student of Botany of B.Sc Med final year has been initiated in the memory of late Ms Brijinder Dargan, Deptt of Botany, SGGS College. The Alumni Association of the College has donated a sum of Rs 50,000/- for needy Girl Students
The College has created a COVID 19 Awareness Cell to implement COVID-19 prevention protocol and guidelines like maintaining social distancing, wearing masks, regular sanitization, sanitizer stations at various points, having adequate number of Infra-Red Temperature Scanners/Monitors etc. In addition, the College has adopted the G-Suite platform for online teaching and the Faculty has been adequately trained for the use of ICT and other online tools. A series of virtual activities were organized with the objective of keeping the students informed and engaged during the nationwide lockdown period.
