Paramjit Kaur, a senior citizen, living in house number 736, Milk Colony, Sector 14 West, Dhanas, Chandigarh is going to celebrate this Raksha Bandhan in a Unique mannerFour parks including the one adjoining her house are not maintained as per law. The filthy park adjoining her house is full of cow dung and urine. Some encroachers have started dumping garbage and cow dung in these parks and tethering cattle along the boundary walls of these parks. The residents have to face foul smell, infections and diseases. Cow urine flows on roads. It’s hard to move on roads along these parks. Mosquitoes have made the life of residents a real hell. It is unbelievable that these four parks are situated in the city beautiful, Chandigarh. She told media that the honorable Punjab and Haryana high court gave a judgment prohibiting such illegal encroachments, dumping of cow dung and tethering of cattle along the boundary walls but the violators and local politicians do not care and the encroachments still continue. A Contempt petition is still pending.Notice boards carrying warnings and provisions have been mounted by Municipal Corporation in these parks but the encroachers and local politicians don’t care at all. A few notice boards have been uprooted. This problem can be solved only by a suitable police action because these encroachments attract many penal laws but no police action can be initiated without written complaint of municipal commissioner. So far no police complaint have been made by Municipal Commissioner because of selfish interests and lack of will of politicians. The matter was recently brought in the knowledge of SDM (Central) Nazuk Kumar also. A complaint was made via swachhata app also. But no fruitful results have come yet. This Raksha Bandhan, she will tie Rakhi to the Administrator, Deputy Commissioner, Municipal Commissioner, Chief Justice and the Mayor. She expects that one out of these brothers of her will certainly come forward and save her from disease and infections. She says that this independence day she wants to get freedom from the foul smell and infections. She has been advised by doctors in writing to avoid infections and pollution. She is not putting up good health. Last year she got suffered from Chikungunya and many residents of the locality got dengue. This rainy season there is a great threat of spread of such diseases like Malaria, dengue, Chikungunya again. The health department of Chandigarh should take immediate and strict action.Paramjit KaurH.
